“Food Safety Modernization Act” or S 510

This good ole boy is not all wrong but then he is not quite right. What he says is true and our food system is in trouble, but the good news is that this new bill has not passed yet as the Senate went home for the Thanksgiving break. The vote is now thought to be on Nov 29th. We have more time to contact your Senators before they vote for this terrible bill. Here is the essence of S 510 and how it came to be.

First of all, Congress, House and Senate, are not real bright and can’t think for themselves or are just plain bought off with corporate money.

We have a problem with food production in this country when it is grown for the masses by corporate “farmers”. We had little problems growing healthy food, dairy, beef, chicken, pork, grains, vegetables and fruit when we had small, caring farmers. When corporations got involved they told us that raw milk was unhealthy and it needed to be pasteurized and only corporations could do this job correctly. They told us that little farmers could not grow grains and vegetables without chemicals and massive amounts of land. They were going to feed the world. They had to raise animals in confined areas because small farmers could not do this efficiently.

Corporations do not grow food with love and thought for their consumer. They grow everything to be cheap, just like the USDA and TDA (Texas Department of Agriculture) and the Ag department in your state. There is never a thought about taste or nutrition or cleanliness. They use whatever chemicals they can find that are cheap to get plant growth and the cheapest grains for the cattle, pigs or chickens.

With crops, they wore out the soil years ago, so all the essential minerals that we need so desperately are missing in our diets, hence causing disease. Sometimes they use sludge from city sewer systems that contains massive amounts of heavy metals, drugs, micronized toilet paper, mind-altering drugs and bacteria that is not dead that can get into or on the plants that people eat. They may use animal manure with drugs and bacteria.

The outcome from these unhealthy practices can be salmonella and other live bacteria that can cause infections in people, including death. This happened in spinach and peppers about two years ago.

What is the solution for plants? Logic says clean up farming practices and grow healthy plants, but small farmers are already doing this and they are taking business away from corporations to sell to people who want to be healthy.

Corporate growers can’t lose business so they go to Congress critters and ask them to change the system. They want to get rid of those pesky little farmers so they blame the little guy for causing the outbreaks of infections, put money into campaign funds or pockets of politicians and change little except the idea of using radiation to kill the “bugs” (bacteria) in the food they produce. There is no thought about the destruction of the nutrients in the plants or lingering of radiation in the food that will cause cancer. They will tell their employees that there is no danger from sapping the food with radiation; within a few years they will be dying, but they will not care and will not be prosecuted for causing their deaths.

The same thing happens in animals as happens in plants. The chickens, pigs and cows are herded into confinement facilities and fed chemicals and foods that are genetically engineered. They poop on each other and spread disease that gets into and on the meat. This is one of the reasons food has to be overcooked in restaurants to keep you from being ill.

Radiation has been used for many years on hamburger to kill bacteria and its use is being expanded. Publix grocery stores, Schwan’s home delivery and Omaha Steaks have been using radiation for years on their hamburger. This is certain to expand to big box stores in the future.

So what is the bottom line with all this information? The government is going to take the side of corporations and “demand” (wink, wink) that they clean up the food system. They are going to legislate the farmers markets, local producers and organic sustainable farmers out of business on the premise that the public will be safe and not die in a few weeks or months. It does not matter that these policies will kill massive numbers of the people in one to ten years because it cannot be traced back to the corporations or Congress.

What do we need to do? We need a strong local system of food that is sustainable. This right may be taken away from us but we must try to stop this before it happens or with lawsuits before it is put into effect. The FDA will be the administrator of this law and we already know how they side on the side of drug corporations, doctors and hospitals as they kill hundreds of thousands of people every year.

Some Toxic Chemicals in “Food” you Eat

inkiesI hate to use the word conspiracy but I just can’t come up with a better term to describe what is happening to cause the poor health epidemic in the USA.
The media tells us that we are lazy junk food guzzling idiots, but they will never report that their advertisers are causing this epidemic by what they put into so called “food” Here are examples of what is going on with the prepared food supply.
Coke-cola and has to be at the top of the list but they are probably not the worst. A can of Coke (12 fl ounces/355 ml) has 39 grams of carbohydrates (all from sugar, approximately 10 teaspoons), 50 mg of sodium, 0 grams fat, 0 grams potassium, and 140 calories. I got these figures from Wikipedia but they are wrong on one thing. Coke and soft drink manufactures rarely use sugar; they use High Fructose Corn Syrup almost exclusively, which is worse than sugar for causing obesity.
I do want you to observe that 50 mg of sodium that is in Coke. What does sodium mean? SALT! Why is salt put into soft drinks, to make you thirstier and make you drink more soft drinks? This is the conspiracy.
Why is there so much high fructose corn syrup? To cover up the taste of salt! What was New Coke (the marketing ploy that failed)? Increased salt and more HFCS! If coke had never announced the plot to change the formula and if they had changed the formula gradually, no one would have ever known what they had done.

This concerns McDonalds and their McNuggets that you might think are chicken but only 50 percent of each McNugget is actually chicken.

Do you put dimethylpolysiloxane, an anti-foaming agent made of silicone, in your chicken dishes?
How about tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), a chemical preservative so deadly that just five grams can kill you?
These are just two of the ingredients in a McDonalds Chicken McNugget. Only 50 percent of a McNugget is actually chicken. The other 50 percent includes corn derivatives, sugars, leavening agents and completely synthetic ingredients.
Organic Authority helpfully transcribed the full ingredients list provided by McDonalds:
“White boneless chicken, water, food starch-modified, salt, seasoning (autolyzed yeast extract, salt, wheat starch, natural flavoring (botanical source), safflower oil, dextrose, citric acid, rosemary), sodium phosphates, seasoning (canola oil, mono- and diglycerides, extractives of rosemary).
Battered and breaded with: water, enriched flour (bleached wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), yellow corn flour, food starch-modified, salt, leavening (baking soda, sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate, calcium lactate), spices, wheat starch, whey, corn starch.
Prepared in vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness). Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent.”
All of the above is bad but just the vegetable oils (Canola, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil) are terrible because these oils are all genetically engineered and they are all trans fatty acids. This is why all chicken prepared in grocery stores and fast food chicken outlets is unhealthy to eat under any circumstances.
How about desert? How about a Twinkie? Here is a report that I got from the internet. Actually I have read the book but this is a short summary of the book by the author.

This got my attention. However, it only got worse when I discovered that the ingredients come from phosphate mines in Idaho, gypsum mines in Oklahoma, and oil fields in China. Okay, so now I was wondering if I was watching a real news story—come to find out, I was.
The Twinkie, which was created during the Depression, contains thirty-nine ingredients. One of those ingredients is a preservative, sorbic acid. Sorbic acid is an ingredient I see on many packages, and I have never thought twice about it. But author Steve Ettlinger did. He found that sorbic acid is actually derived from natural gas.
If that isn’t shocking enough, he goes on to talk about other ingredients like cellulose gum, Polysorbate 60, and calcium sulfate. Apparently, these ingredients are also used in sheet rock, shampoo, and rocket fuel. No wonder Twinkies make kids run around like crazy and have even been used as a defense for murder!
Mr. Ettlinger also found that the vitamins, artificial colors, and flavorings in Twinkies come from petroleum.
I started to wonder how this tasty treat made from gas and rocks can be so light and airy. In comes Mr. Ettlinger again. Apparently, it’s limestone that makes Twinkies light. And that tasty cream center—it’s got to be milk, right? No. It’s made of shortening; there is absolutely no cream in the cream.
I have to say I was curious to know what Hostess, the makers of the Twinkie, thought about Mr. Ettlinger’s claims. Well, here’s the quote that ran in my newscast:
Deconstructing the Twinkie is like trying to deconstruct the universe. We think the millions of people … would agree that Twinkies just taste great.—David Leavitt, Vice President Snack Marketing at Hostess.
The news story was inspired by Steve Ettlinger’s new book, Twinkie Deconstructed. Ettlinger uses the Twinkie to demonstrate where our processed food ingredients come from. Since the Twinkie is the product leader—yes, it’s a product and apparently, barely a food—it served as the perfect tool to show consumers what goes into our food.
The above are three “foods” that unsuspecting people consume that cause poor health.
The manufactures of these “foods” do not want you to know what their chemicals are doing to cause you to suffer poor health. The above products cause colds and flu in all age groups because they compromise your immune system. The colds and flu problems are all on the “short run” but the more insidious problems are on the long run. The long run problems are heart disease, stroke, cancer, obesity, diabetes and infections from mycoplasmas that cause neuro-degenerative and degenerative diseases like ALS, MS, chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn’s disease, fibromyalgia, and many other chronic diseases.
You might say “I don’t care cause you have to die of something” and that is your right to be stupid but you deserve to know what is causing people to be sick and die before their time. You need to know that drug corporations, doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, food manufactures, agriculture producers, chemical corporations, don’t want you to be healthy so they can get “fat” off your misfortune.
Everyone has the right to make a choice but your government and corporations conspire to keep you in the dark about “food” knowing that you will suffer yourself or through a family member of friend.
My job as a reporter and author is to inform the public about what is wrong in their food supply so that you can make an intelligent choice with the food you eat.
It is your right to do and eat as you wish (smoking, toxic food, etc.), but it should be my right to eat healthy, be informed, and not be taxed to pay for you heart attack, cancer, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and chronic diseases that are preventable.
Instead of the Obama “sick care” program that is not right or fair, people should pay a tax on all processed “foods”, cigarettes, etc. with the money going into a special fund to provide for illness treatment from allopathic doctors.
Doctors should also be paid more to help you be healthy instead of being rewarded for getting you on drugs and not helping you be well.

Why are Doctors killing us?

 

I had a pharmacist in the office yesterday and we discussed what is wrong with health care and what is wrong with the Obama “Sick Care” plan. Some will agree with these ideas and some will not care, but most will agree that the whole system is sick and most likely will not be improved until the whole system breaks the government economically. After the collapse, and possibly violence, we may get a new system that will actually help the people.

We are a country of extremes. When something gets bad, the people get up in arms and the powers-that-be make adjustments. The public does not think the government would allow any corporation to harm them, so if something unhealthy happens, the public expects the government to solve the problem.

I hope I am getting your attention because there is something wrong – your health – and at this time your government doesn’t care and your doctors don’t have time to care.

The single biggest cause of poor health and disease today is sugar and high fructose corn syrup. They are causing heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, cancer, cholesterol, triglycerides and degenerative diseases.

When a patient goes into his or her doctor and the doctor says you are pre-diabetic or diabetic and if you follow the instructions that he or she or a dietician give you, you can lead a normal life (they do not say at this time that sugar, HFCS and diabetes alone will shorten your life by 9 to 20 years). You must come back regularly and follow a diabetic diet and take these medications. They don’t mention that, after years of the pills and continued eating of sugars and HFCS, the diabetes will probably get worse and you will need to give yourself a shot of insulin one to two times per day for the rest of your life. They also do not mention that if heart disease is not present at this time it will be shortly after the diabetes starts.

Your doctor will not be callous at this time and thank you for the money you are going to put into his or her pocket, but he or she knows that you are going to be responsible for paying over $300,000 before you die. This money will pay for office expenses, but a lot of this will go to the new BMW’s every couple of years, the doctor’s kids’ new cars and, of course, the doctor’s $750,000.00 house will be in the best of neighborhoods.

 Doctors are not stupid or they would never have made it through medical school, internship or residency. I also venture to say that most doctors really do care, but the problem is time and money.

When you show up with pre-diabetes, doctors know that, at this juncture, it is possible to change your life and prevent becoming a diabetic.  Unfortunately, they also know most people don’t give a hoot and will not change their life style. With this in mind, the doctors are not going to waste their time telling you to stop eating sugar and HFCS (I know this is over simplified but it is still true).

The most important issue is that even if the doctor cares and tries to advise the patient to do the right thing, the doctor is not getting paid to give you good advice. They can’t pay the bills advising people to do the right thing (this applies to heart disease, cancer and every other disease) and so the easy way out is to give you the diet, the prescription and tell you to return in a few weeks to check your blood sugar level and adjust your medications. In the case of heart disease and cancer, they get you into surgery and post-op treatment.

Hopefully, you are asking how we can fix this problem, but the problem is that no one wants to fix it because everyone is making massive amounts of money and as long as the cash cow – our government – is willing to pay, the system will never change.

Fortunately or unfortunately, the day of reckoning is coming soon.

The amount of people with diabetes, the new diabetics from the baby boomers and now the children with diabetes is going to break the government “bank”. There is no way the government can continue to tax the people for diseases that are preventable, empire building in other nations with our military and giving foreign aid to countries that is spent on the lavish lifestyles of their leaders. There is a point coming soon that the people will rebel and refuse to pay more taxes.

Health care has got to change to real prevention and not lip service to prevention. Medicine/drug corporations try to make the public believe that keeping you from dying quickly while prescribing massive amounts of expensive drugs is prevention. Unfortunately, the government (politicians who are bought off by Big Pharma) has bought this misguided health care system hook, line and sinker. (I just could not stop myself from using the fishing term.)

What can we do to change the coming disaster? Make no mistake – the system will fall apart before it gets better.

You have to decide if you want to help yourself before the collapse or wait for the government to try and fix the problem; however, you may be dead before there is substantial change.

  • Demand that agriculture change from chemicals to sustaining practices. We know that there is too much money being made by corporations to change, so you have to take responsibility for yourself and your family.
  • Doctors must be paid for preventing disease and penalized monetarily for “sick-care medicine”.
  • We have to stop “food” manufacturers from deceiving the people with toxic ingredients like HFCS, sugar, MSG, Equal and hydrolyzed vegetable proteins. If you want to avoid early death, you will have to take care of yourself and your family as food changes will not happen until after the collapse of “sick care.”

Your future and longevity at this time depends on you and how willing you are to help yourself and your family. I would like to think that there will be no disaster or collapse, but we are on a collision course and I don’t believe anything will stop it. Diabetes will trigger the change.

I don’t believe doctors are killing us on purpose or that they are altogether uncaring, but the system is rigged against them and us, the people. Ralph Nader and Sydney Wolfe, MD group estimate that doctors, nurses, hospitals and drug corporations kill 400,000 people a year and disable another 400,000 people each year.

Should we tolerate this or just write off the fact that millions of people are dying before their time. Are you going to be one of these early deaths that also run out of money before the end and have to live in poverty?
