A Farmer’s Responsibility to the People Who Eat His or Her Food By Greg Willis

This is a very good friend whom I respect as being one of the best people in the healthy agriculture movement today. I hope you enjoy this letter as much as I have and that, in the future, you will remember that farmers owe us healthy food to sustain our bodies and minds and our current agriculture system is destroying the people. We must put pressure on the farming community, the FDA and USDA to change their evil ways.

I’ve been thinking about a lot of things lately, prior to going into the hospital to get the first of two new hip replacements.

One question that came to mind is this: Even though the chances of not surviving this kind of operation are around 5 in 100,000 – astronomical odds, really, I asked myself, “If I knew I was going to die tomorrow, what would I say is the most important lesson I’ve learned about Nature?”

It turns out that to me at least, it is the realization that everything there is has a role to play in Nature.  But specifically, I think the most important realization of all these last 45 years of gardening and agriculture is the deeply, deeply spiritual role of the farmer in the world.

I have striven mightily to awaken or reawaken this realization and how important farmers, gardeners and everyone in the food business are to the world.

Steiner said that when there isn’t sufficient spiritual nutrition in our food, we become mentally clumsy, but worse, we lose our Free Will, our thinking is confused and, by extension, it would eventually lead to mass starvation and the demise of Mankind.

We all have a body, a physical body and a soul, our spiritual body that cannot die.  Our physical bodies need physical nutrition to be healthy. Our souls require spiritual nutrition to stay healthy and be able to pierce Maya, the Veil of Delusion, that separates us on Earth from the deeper spiritual realities of the Universe, the Cosmos, Creation, and worse still, separates us from our Divine Creator making the lessons of Unconditional Love, seeing Spirit in all things and all things in Spirit and Self-Realization or the realization that each of us in our souls are a perfect reflection of the Divine, much more difficult to learn.

What I’ve learned over the years and I wish to pass on, is that it is the role of farmers and gardeners, for themselves and others, to grow the most spiritually and physically nutritious food that can possibly be grown.

This is a deeply, deeply spiritual role to play, perhaps one of the most sacred roles of all Mankind and even out into the Universe.  For a farmer to grow food with less than the highest attainable spiritual nutrition deprives all Humanity of that Spiritual Essence of Life, call it Chi, the Breath of Life, the Life Force Current, Prana, Ki or Mana – all words given to this force that animates and informs all life with health, insights and wisdom, even, in the end, Bliss.

The role of the farmer, the spiritual role, is the most sacred of them all for held in their hands is the destiny of Humanity on Earth.

This is a very, very serious responsibility.

I’ve also learned that food grown with chemicals, poisons and to a great extent, genetically engineered, if the intent of the genetic engineering is greed, to make people dependent on the GE company and their seeds and chemicals, at the expense of others and the environment, depletes, or, in some cases, all but eliminates the influx of this Life Force into our foods, the food for our animals, wild animals and even for other plants as they feed off the nutrition of dead plants as humus.

A farmer voluntarily elects to be a farmer.  No one forces them to be a farmer, at least in most cases.  We all have Free Will.  We can opt out at any time.  So this is a voluntary choice, to be a farmer, or grow food for ourselves and our families.  If you believe in reincarnation, you could also extend that to say that a soul picked a family into which to be born that was a farming family to experience this amazing gift – the gift of having the ability to grow food for the benefit of others.

So if asked, I would say that of all the massive amount of insights I’ve received in my life with regard to agriculture, gardening and food in general, this is, in the end, the most important.

Farmers have a deep spiritual responsibility to grow food, especially when it is for others, to be the best they can be and to grow the most nutritious physically and spiritually enriched food.  In that way, that farmer or gardener lives a life of service to Mankind.

“What you think, you grow.”  I’ve said that thousands of times.  Then, as I see it, it is the deep responsibility of farmers, gardeners, horticulturists, ranchers and everyone associated with our food production from start to finish, seeking out the best ways to grow food.

The current paradigm, as most of you know I’ve talked about endlessly, is to kill everything that competes with our crops and eat whatever is left.  This destroys the Life Force in our plants, our soul food.

There is a better way and that is to discover the root causes for plant diseases and pests, low yields and low quality and all the other problems plaguing agriculture.  Agriculture needs to change their practices to do better.  All the information is available.  There is no need to spray pesticides, for example, if you just realize that by increasing the Brix levels in your crop, most if not all of the pests will die or drop off in one to three days.  That’s what BrixUp™ does.  No poisons.  No chemicals.  No GMOs.  Just LOVE.  In a bottle.

And that, then my dear friends, is the basis for all farming.  Love.  And respect for Nature which is Spirit in its infinity of combinations and expressions of Spirit.

A farmer or gardener cannot do battle with Nature and expect to create the highest levels of physical and spiritual nutrition.  It just doesn’t happen.

 

So that gets me back to the original question.  If there is one thing I would like to teach people in this world, it is to Love God and to view their role as farmers, gardeners, ranchers and horticulturists as a freely chosen, deeply, deeply spiritual undertaking that effects like no other job the highest calling, the highest Truth and the greatest Love for all of Mankind, all living things, as Individualized Expressions of Spirit, and the most profound love of the Divine Creator of All.

Are You COOL?

If you think COOL has something to do with the weather or how you or your child dresses, you are in for a big surprise.

COOL stands for Country of Origin Labeling. The USA government and industry came up with this labeling to snooker the public when it comes to food.

Do you know what snooker means? This is just an old way of telling you that someone is lying or misleading you. US manufacturers and the government do not want us – you and I – to know the truth when it comes to food. Through the COOL program, there is a misinformation campaign to keep us from knowing about all the chemicals that are fed to or injected into animals in the USA before and after death. They also don’t want you to know how toxic the soil is where plants are grown. Also, they don’t want you to know about the toxic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and fungicides.

There is not any place on earth that has more chemicals in their food supply than the USA and Canada. These two countries have been bought and paid for by corporate USA and the respective governments.

The official party line is that other countries use toxic chemicals and their chemicals will poison the food and the people who eat the food. This is simply not true.

Let’s take beef first in this discussion. In the USA, cattle get 6 to 8 hormones before they are slaughtered. In countries like Brazil, they get none. In the USA, they get antibiotics to try and hold down the infections while they are crowded together in a feedlot where they poop on each other everyday for about 5 months. In countries like Brazil, they get no antibiotics because they are out on a pasture eating healthy grass that builds their immune system while having the sunshine disinfect their eating and sleeping areas. In the USA, they are sometimes fed baking soda to keep them from exploding from all the gas in their guts caused by eating grains that are unhealthy and unnatural for cows to eat. In countries like Brazil, this is not necessary because they only eat healthy grass. In the USA, we dare not eat the liver of a cow because of all the abscesses caused by the unnatural grains fed in a feedlot. This is not a problem in countries like Brazil. The liver is the filtration system for mammals and if there are chemicals and diseases, like abscesses, then people should not eat the liver.

After the cow is processed in the USA, the meat is injected with a solution of water, MSG, High Fructose Corn Syrup and salt to cover up the lousy taste. This is not a problem with beef from a country like Brazil.

In the USA, the animals are fed grains that are grown on poor soil with toxic chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. This does not happen in countries like Brazil because they use no chemicals. In the USA, the cows are fed GMO – Genetically Modified Organisms – that are toxic to the point of making the animals sterile. With the damage done to the cows, the meat also passes these toxins on to people to make them sub-fertile or sterile. This is not a problem with beef coming from countries like Brazil.

You be the judge. Do you want to eat beef from the USA or from a country like Brazil? I welcome the COOL label and if a big ole steak says Brazil and not the USA USDA, I will buy the steak from Brazil and pass on the one from the USA.

This same scenario happens with pork, chicken, vegetables and fruit. There are a few places in other countries where they use human waste for fertilizers, but our farmers are doing the same thing, although here it is called sludge. The human waste is normally composted so the risk of disease is small, but here in the USA, the sludge contains heavy metals from industry, drugs from people excreting them out of their bodies or from being poured down the drains of households or hospitals. My favorite waste that people put in their mouths is micronized toilet paper. This comes from rivers and lakes. The toilet paper used in bathrooms gets into waste water and it is impossible to filter out before it goes back into the environment. This was told by an EPA person in Orlando, Florida several years ago.

So, what are people to do since it seems like the government and corporations are against them?

Buy local food from people who you can look in the eye to see if they are lying. This applies to meat, vegetables and fruit. If you happen to see a label that is COOL and you recognize that it is USA, then try and avoid the product. If it happens to be from a country like Brazil, then buy it with confidence.

So-called third world countries are not bad as we are led to believe by our government and corporations. Remember that we have one of the poorest health care systems in the world. We rank about 50th in health in the world today. There are a whole lot of third world countries that have people with better health than we have and a lot of the reason they are healthier is because they use far less chemicals than the USA.

The Food Safety Modernization Act – Dead Food Bill

Senate bill S 510 may be dead. Harry Reid, senator from Nevada, says this bill cannot be stopped, but the senate made a big mistake in its funding that has to be done by the house, according to the law. It seems to me that they will have to rewrite the bill and vote on it again or let it die. This lame duck Congress is about to go home for the holidays, so this bill S 510 may have to be addressed by the new Congress.

We can hope that this really bad bill will just go away. The following ten points will explain why this is a bad law for the people of the US. I got these points from Mike Adams, The Health Ranger, at Natural News. I am using Mike’s ten points but have modified them because I have different issues on some items.

Lie #1 – Most deaths from food poisoning are caused by fresh produce

Here’s one whopper of a lie the mainstream media won’t dare report: Out of the 1,809 people who die in the USA every year from food-borne pathogens (CDC estimate), only a fraction die from the manufacturer’s contamination of fresh produce. By far the majority of food poisoning is caused by the consumption of spoiled processed foods, dead foods and animal-human transmission of pathogens.

In terms of food-borne illness, many of the deaths come from things like spoiled tomato sauce, spoiled canned foods and spoiled pasteurized milk. S 510, of course, does absolutely nothing to address these food contamination deaths, since those foods are considered “sterilized” at the time of sale.

Lie #2 – Under S.510, the FDA would only recall products it knows to be contaminated

Not true. S.510 merely requires the FDA to have “reason to believe” a food is contaminated. So right there, that means all raw milk will be targeted by the FDA because even without conducting any scientific tests at all, the FDA can say it has “reason to believe” the milk is contaminated merely because it is raw.

In other words, the FDA no longer needs science to outlaw a food product. It merely needs an opinion. This seems to be a violation of an individual’s right to a day in court.

Lie #3 – They didn’t tell you that nearly 70% of grocery store chickens are contaminated with salmonella every day

Yep, it’s true: Amid all the fear-mongering over salmonella, everybody forgot to notice that the vast majority of fresh chickens sold at grocery stores every single day are widely contaminated with salmonella. Yet S 510 does absolutely nothing to address this. It’s not even mentioned in the bill.

Joel Salatin in VA was under pressure not to process chickens under a roof but with open sides that allowed sunshine to help sterilize the work area. He decided to do a study. He took cultures of his birds and cultures from chickens at local grocery stores. His birds had almost no salmonella while the grocery store birds had millions of salmonella bacteria in the culture count.

Lie #4 – S.510 will exclude and protect small farmers

The Tester Amendment, which was finally included in S.510, excludes farmers who sell less than $500,000 worth of food each year from the more onerous paperwork and compliance burdens described in the bill. But this dollar amount is not indexed to inflation, meaning that as the U.S. dollar continues to lose value due to the Federal Reserve counterfeiting machine running at full speed (more “quantitative easing,” anyone?), food prices will continue to skyrocket — and this will shift even small family farms into the $500,000 sales range within just a few years.

The main idea of S 510 was to get rid of small family farms that compete for dollars from food manufacturing corporations. This amendment does little to protect family farms.

Lie #5 – The FDA needs more power to enforce food safety

The FDA already has the power to effectively recall foods by publicly announcing a product has been found to be contaminated. The FDA already has the power to confiscate “misbranded” products, too, and it could easily use this power to halt the sale of contaminated food items. There is no need to expend the powers of the FDA.

 

Lie #6 – Fresh produce is contaminated because of a lack of paperwork

There is no evidence that requiring farms to fill out more paperwork will make their food safer. The real cause of produce contamination is the existence of factory animal farms (CAFO) whose effluent output (huge rivers of cow, pig and chicken feces, basically), end up in the water supply, soils and equipment that come into contact with fresh produce.

Lie #7 – The American people are dying in droves from unsafe fresh food

The truth is that Americans are dying from processed food laced with toxic chemical additives, not from fresh, raw produce. Partially-hydrogenated oils, white sugar, aspartame, MSG and artificial food colors almost certainly kill far more people than bacterial contaminations.

The American public is also dying from pharmaceuticals — anywhere from 100,000 to 240,000 people a year are killed by FDA-approved drugs), most of which have been approved under the guise of blatantly fraudulent science and drug company trickery. The FDA doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, it has been a willful co-conspirator in the scientific fraud carried out by Big Pharma in the name of “medicine.”

Lie #8 – The FDA just wants to make food “safer”

Actually, the FDA wants to make the food more DEAD. Both the FDA and the USDA are vocal opponents of live food. They think that the only safe food is sterilized food, which is why they’ve supported the fumigation, pasteurization and irradiation efforts that have been pushed over the last few years.

Lie #9 – Food smuggling is a huge problem in America

One of the main sections of S.510 addresses “food smuggling.” Yep — people smuggling food across the country. If you’ve never heard of this problem that’s because it’s not actually a problem. If the government outlaws healthy local food, then you will see people smuggling food all over the USA.

Lie #10 – S.510 will make America’s food supply the safest in the world

The truth is that USA and Canadian food is the most contaminated chemicalized food in the world (except China) and S 510 will only make it worse. The more small local healthy food is outlawed, the worse the food supply will become and the more disease will increase. The truth is that today the biggest economic growth area in the USA is health care (instead of high tech exportable products). To keep the “ball rolling, so to speak, we need more disease. Poor quality food creates more business for drug corporations.

To be healthy we need locally grown organic foods.
